Flat light and a covered sky today, with light air out of the SSE and no real change in pressure. Give the first drop-off and weed lines the first hour at Lac du Cran. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac du Cran lies within the bounds of Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. It stands 275 metres above sea level. Roughly 16 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The whole outline is near 3.9 km, and most of it is walkable. The nearest place of any size is Normandin, 31 km away. Saguenay sits 147 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Lac du Cran gives up more to patience than to distance.
Climate records put July near 17°C and January near -19°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. At Lac du Cran the season follows that pattern closely.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Christine sits 1.8 km off and takes the overflow. Rules at Lac du Cran are worth checking on the day.
