Flat light and a covered sky today, with a light chop building from the SSW with a settled glass. Activity on Lac du Castor should centre on the shaded margin through bright spells. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Côte-Nord, Quebec, is where Lac du Castor sits. The bank is 219 metres above sea level. It covers about 7 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. On size it sits at the modest end of our Côte-Nord list. Baie-Comeau lies 23 km from the water. After that come Hauterive at 26 km and Chute-aux-Outardes at 39 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Côte-Nord, recorded fish include logperch. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Fish Lac du Castor to its features, not to its size.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -16°C. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. The water is typically free of ice between early May and mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Plan any trip to Lac du Castor around it.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lac Pollux at 0.7 km is the sensible second choice. Where Lac du Castor is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
