Cloud coming and going through the night, with almost no wind to speak of and no real change in pressure. Activity on Lac du Bijou should centre on points where shallow meets deep. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Look for Lac du Bijou in the Outaouais part of Quebec. It stands 371 metres above sea level. At about 69 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Some 11 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. Size puts it in the front rank of our Outaouais list. Head to Saint-Boniface, 93 km away, for anything you forgot. Gatineau sits 206 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Fish documented in Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Lac du Bijou fishes better once you know its edges.
The warm month here averages 17°C; the cold one sits at -17°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about late November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. At Lac du Bijou the season follows that pattern closely.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Should this one be busy, Lac Blancey is 1.1 km off. For Lac du Bijou, the notice at the access point is the final word.
