Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with barely a breath of wind with the glass holding level. Give the calm side of the wind the first hour at Lac Dromon. A slow day overall; the morning is the best of a quiet lot. Go lighter and slower than usual. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

You will find Lac Dromon in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. It sits in rolling bush. It covers about 2 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. The nearest place of any size is Senneterre, 114 km away. Then Val-d'Or, 116 km, and Saint-Boniface, 117 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Lac Dromon fishes better once you know its edges.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -17°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. From about early May to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. On Lac Dromon the same rules apply, with local timing.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Lac Ribaud, 2.4 km away. Confirm before you fish Lac Dromon.
