Dull, settled light over the water, with a soft SW wind with a settled glass. The fish at Lac Douve are likely to sit near structure within a cast of the bank. Numbers are low everywhere; the morning is the pick of them. Go lighter and slower than usual. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

You will find Lac Douve in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. Elevation runs to 359 metres. With some 36 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The whole outline is near 3.1 km, and most of it is walkable. Senneterre lies 94 km from the water. Val-d'Or is 98 km away, with Barraute at 113 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Records held for Abitibi-Témiscamingue cover northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. At Lac Douve light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Long-run averages give July about 17°C and January about -17°C. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Lac Douve runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. If the gate is shut, Lac Pageas at 0.9 km is the nearest alternative. What applies at Lac Douve may have changed since it was mapped.
