No direct sun expected today, with a faint SW drift and the barometer holding steady. Most of the action on Lac Bambou should come off the weed line and any gaps in it. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Look for Lac Bambou in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue part of Quebec. It sits in northern bush. It runs to roughly 12 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The bank runs about 3.4 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. The closest town, Senneterre, is 91 km away. The big place round here is Gatineau, 255 km distant. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Abitibi-Témiscamingue records list northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead among the fish reported. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. On Lac Bambou the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
In an average year July sits at 17°C and January at -17°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. On average, early May opens the water and mid November closes it again. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Lac Bambou runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Sageau at 0.6 km is the sensible second choice. Signs at Lac Bambou carry more weight than any list.
