Flat light and a covered sky today, with mild air moving in from the SSE and pressure sitting still. Give reed fringes and open pockets the first hour at Lac Diane. The strongest window is the morning. Small adjustments will matter more than big moves. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Lac Diane in the Mauricie part of Quebec. The bank gives way to rolling bush. It runs to roughly 12 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Head to Sainte-Thècle, 20 km away, for anything you forgot. It is 72 km to Trois-Rivières, the nearest city. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch among the fish reported. The county list is broader than any single water. Anyone new to Lac Diane should walk it once before setting up.
Long-term averages put July at about 18°C and January near -15°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. Break-up sits around late April on average, with the water closing again about late November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. The season on Lac Diane rarely departs from it.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Masketsi, 0.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat Lac Diane as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
