Wet weather working through today, with a whisper of wind from the SE and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Lac des Mousses should come off any hard bottom among the soft. If you pick one session, make it the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

You will find Lac des Mousses in Capitale-Nationale, Quebec. It sits at 344 metres above sea level. The water measures roughly 3 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. The nearest place of any size is Laurentides, 11 km away. Saint-Raymond follows at 33 km, then Saint-Ubalde at 34 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Capitale-Nationale include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker, sauger and channel catfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. The shape of Lac des Mousses rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Average temperature peaks around 18°C in July and bottoms out near -15°C in January. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late November in an average year. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Anyone fishing Lac des Mousses regularly works to that calendar.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Courval, 1.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Lac des Mousses for certain.
