Fishing at Lac des Cannes, Laurentides, Quebec

• Overview

  Lac des Cannes is one of the Laurentides waters in Quebec. The surroundings are rolling bush. At about 11 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The whole outline is near 1.8 km, and most of it is walkable. 6.2 km away sits La Minerve, the nearest town. After that come Labelle at 9.6 km and Lac-Simon at 14 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.

• Where to Fish on Lac des Cannes

  We hold no depth figure for this one. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Records held for Laurentides cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. What holds for the county may not hold for this water.   Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Rules differ from one water to the next round here.
