The Laurentides entry here is Lac David, in Quebec. Height above sea level is 313 metres. This is a pocket water of some 2 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Our Laurentides list holds plenty of bigger water. La Minerve lies 4.4 km from the water. It is 101 km to Orléans, the nearest city. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Laurentides records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch among the fish reported. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. On Lac David the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Between January at about -14°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac David.
The access position is unclear from public sources. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Should this one be busy, Lac des Lignes is 1 km off. Check the current arrangement for Lac David.
