A closed sky with even light today, with an easy breeze from the SSE with the barometer flat. Fish at Lac Dery should hold close to structure within a cast of the bank. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean in Quebec is where Lac Dery sits. It sits in taiga country. With some 16 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
We hold no depth figure for this one. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Open biodiversity records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. The shape of Lac Dery rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Average temperature peaks around 17°C in July and bottoms out near -19°C in January. The ice season is long here and the open one short. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. That is the shape of the year on Lac Dery.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Lac Derga sits 1 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing on Lac Dery should be assumed from this page alone.
