Soft grey light all day today, with a whisper of wind from the SSE and steady pressure. Most of the action on Lac de l'Aqueduc should come off the margins and the shelf beyond them. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Quebec holds Lac de l'Aqueduc, in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. This is northern bush ground. Surface area runs to about 5 hectares — small enough to read in one session. For supplies, Pont Rouge is 36 km out. Further out sit Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc (37 km) and Sainte-Monique (37 km). No border sits close enough to matter. There is no development on most of the bank.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Open biodiversity records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At Lac de l'Aqueduc the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -19°C. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. That shapes the year on Lac de l'Aqueduc.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac de la Cooperative at 0.9 km is the sensible second choice. Where Lac de l'Aqueduc is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
