Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with light air out of the WNW and steady pressure. Give sheltered bays and points the first hour at Lac de l'Oasis. Everything points to the middle of the day. Give the likely spots time before moving. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Out in Capitale-Nationale, Quebec, sits Lac de l'Oasis. It lies 167 metres above sea level. At about 16 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. At about 5.3 km of edge, most people work one arm at a time. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. The town to know is Saint-Raymond, 13 km out. Sainte-Foy sits 55 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Fish documented in Capitale-Nationale include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon and longnose sucker. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. The near bank of Lac de l'Oasis is often the one people ignore.
The range across the year is -14°C to 18°C. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Open water usually runs from late April until about late November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Lac de l'Oasis runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. The closest car park is 830 m away, so pack accordingly. There are toilets mapped about 840 m away. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Petit lac Angelique, 1.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Lac de l'Oasis for certain.
