An even grey lid over the water, with a soft SSW wind with the barometer flat. The productive water at Lac de la Mule will be around the seam between weed and open water. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac de la Mule is an Outaouais water, Quebec side. It lies 233 metres above sea level. The water measures roughly 4 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. The nearest place of any size is Saint-Boniface, 23 km away. For a city, Gatineau is 125 km off. Others within reach: Lac du Marteau a touch under 1.3 km, Lac Caroline (2 km), Lac du Camp a touch under 2.9 km, Lac Jones (3 km) and Lac Whitelaw a touch under 3.2 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Public occurrence data for Outaouais names pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Lac de la Mule gives up more to patience than to distance.
The warmest month averages 18°C, the coldest about -15°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near late November in autumn. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Expect Lac de la Mule to follow that timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac du Marteau, 1.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Lac de la Mule should be assumed from this page alone.
