Drifting cloud with decent bright gaps, with a whisper of wind from the SSW with a settled glass. Activity on Lac Gippaw should centre on sheltered bays and points. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Lac Gippaw is an Outaouais water, in Quebec. Height above sea level is 293 metres. It measures about 27 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The edge runs 3.0 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. The closest town, Saint-Boniface, is 21 km distant. Maniwaki is 28 km away, with Saint-Raphaël at 38 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Across Outaouais, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac Gippaw a short move beats a long cast.
Average temperature peaks around 18°C in July and bottoms out near -15°C in January. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late April. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near late November in autumn. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Plan any trip to Lac Gippaw around it.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. For a change of water, Lac Jones is 1.5 km distant. Nothing on Lac Gippaw should be assumed from this page alone.
