Drifting cloud with clear gaps tonight, with a whisper of wind from the SW with the barometer flat. On Lac Crozat, work windblown banks where food collects first. A slow day overall; the morning is the best of a quiet lot. Go lighter and slower than usual. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Look for Lac Crozat in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. It lies 374 metres above sea level. It covers about 10 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. With about 2.2 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. The closest town, Val-d'Or, is 112 km away. The big place round here is Gatineau, 220 km distant. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. On Lac Crozat the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -16°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. The open-water window runs from around early May to about late November in an average year. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. On Lac Crozat that shapes the whole year.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac Enval sits 0.9 km off and takes the overflow. None of that is settled for Lac Crozat in what we hold.
