Patchy cloud over the water after dark, with a whisper of wind from the SW and steady pressure. Give the weed line and any gaps in it the first hour at Lac des Alevins. Numbers are low everywhere; the morning is the pick of them. Go lighter and slower than usual. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac des Alevins sits in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, out in Quebec. The surroundings are rolling bush. At 2 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Our Abitibi-Témiscamingue list holds plenty of bigger water. Val-d'Or is the closest place, 109 km off. Saint-Boniface is 116 km away, with Senneterre at 126 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Read Lac des Alevins before you fish it and the day goes better.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -16°C. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about late November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. On Lac des Alevins the same rules apply, with local timing.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. The water borders Réserve faunique La Vérendrye, so reserve rules are likely to apply. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac Nonay, 1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Lac des Alevins should be assumed from this page alone.
