A closed sky with even light today, with a light chop building from the SSW and pressure sitting still. On Lac Oba, work shallow cover and weed edges first. A slow day overall; the morning is the best of a quiet lot. Go lighter and slower than usual. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Oba is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue listings for Quebec. Height above sea level is 368 metres. Nearest place of any size is Saint-Boniface, 110 km away. The big place round here is Gatineau, 218 km distant. Not far off: Lac Aigrefeuille within 1.2 km, Lac Ambleny the better part of 1.6 km, Lac Cellier within 1.9 km, Lac Pitet the better part of 2.3 km and Lac Enval within 2.6 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Public occurrence data for Abitibi-Témiscamingue names northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac Oba that means starting tight and working out.
Averages move between -16°C in January and 17°C in July. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early May. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. That is the shape of the year on Lac Oba.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Overnight stays are possible 1.4 km away. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Aigrefeuille at 1.2 km is the sensible second choice. What applies at Lac Oba may have changed since it was mapped.
