Wet weather working through today, with a faint S drift and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Lac Croche will be around shallow cover and weed edges. The night carries the best of the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Quebec holds Lac Croche, in Laurentides. The bank is 242 metres above sea level. Around 85 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. Around 8.4 km of bank, which is a long day on foot. On our Laurentides list it sits near the top for size. La Minerve is the closest town at 7.4 km. After that come Rivière-Rouge at 15 km and Labelle at 20 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Survey and observation records for Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. At Lac Croche the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -14°C. Winter shuts the surface down for months. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. The water is typically free of ice between late April and late November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Expect Lac Croche to follow that timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Should this one be busy, Lacs Jumeaux is 1.5 km off. Ask locally about Lac Croche if anything is unclear.
