Solid cloud cover today, with a proper ripple driven from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac Coucoune should come off bays that hold the day's warmth. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Morning
The Lanaudière entry here is Lac Coucoune, in Quebec. The surface lies 500 metres up. Roughly 12 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The edge runs 1.6 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. The nearest place of any size is Manawan, 16 km away. Saint-Michel-des-Saints is 54 km and Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm 86 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Open biodiversity records for Lanaudière list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Lac Coucoune gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Expect July near 17°C and January near -16°C on the long-run figures. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Plan around that when you fish Lac Coucoune.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac des Pies, 0.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Lac Coucoune if anything is unclear.
