Rain colouring the margins today, with flat calm through the day and the barometer holding steady. Fish at Lac Cold should hold close to the weed line and any gaps in it. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Cold is one of the Mauricie listings for Quebec. This is boreal forest ground. Small at around 5 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Start from Weymontachie, 51 km down the road. It is 163 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. In the same area: Lac Perle 1.5 km off, Lac Andre out at 1.9 km, Lac Raymond 2.1 km off, Lac Zircon out at 2.2 km and Lac Rubis 2.3 km off. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch among the fish reported. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. On Lac Cold the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -18°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lac Cold fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac Perle, 1.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Lac Cold if anything is unclear.
