Rain moving through today, with an easy breeze from the S and the barometer holding steady. Fish at Lac Bee should hold close to the weed line and any gaps in it. One clear peak today: the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Set in Mauricie, Quebec, this is Lac Bee. Beyond the shoreline you have boreal forest. At about 10 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Roughly 1.7 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Nearest town is Weymontachie, 48 km off. Leblanc follows at 78 km, then Saint-Félicien at 81 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker among the fish reported. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Lac Bee the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
The year swings from about -18°C in January to roughly 16°C in July. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Anyone fishing Lac Bee regularly works to that calendar.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Mac sits 0.8 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac Bee, the notice at the access point is the final word.
