Flat light and a covered sky today, with a useful SSW wind pushing food about with the barometer flat. The fish at Lac Chicot are likely to sit near bays that hold the day's warmth. The numbers single out the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Chicot is listed under Lanaudière, Quebec. Everything around it is boreal forest. Surface area runs to about 6 hectares — small enough to read in one session. It is high ground by Quebec standards. Manawan at 21 km is the nearest place to stop. Saint-Michel-des-Saints is 49 km away, with Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm at 83 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Lanaudière records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout among the fish reported. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. At Lac Chicot light and wind decide more than tackle does.
In an average year July sits at 17°C and January at -16°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. The season on Lac Chicot rarely departs from it.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. For a change of water, Lac Bob is 0.9 km distant. For Lac Chicot in particular, ask before you travel.
