Flat light and a covered sky today, with a useful S wind pushing food about and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Lac Cecile around sheltered bays and points. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Lac Cecile in the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean part of Quebec. The land about it is boreal forest. Supplies mean a trip to Métabetchouan, 38 km off. Beyond it, Chambord at 42 km and Desbiens at 46 km. Also within reach: Lac Grandville 3 km, Lac Crespieul about 3.7 km, Lac Luc 3.7 km, Lac Lavigne about 3.9 km and Lac Fourchu 4 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On Lac Cecile that means starting tight and working out.
Long-run averages give July about 17°C and January about -17°C. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lac Cecile fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Grandville, 3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position at Lac Cecile before loading the car.
