Flat light and a covered sky today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the S with the barometer flat. Expect most activity at Lac Carre around the first drop-off and weed lines. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Carre is one of the Laurentides waters in Quebec. The ground around here is lake country bush. It measures about 32 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The full circuit measures close to 3.0 km on foot. It is among the larger waters listed here for Laurentides. Supplies mean a trip to Ferme-Neuve, 35 km off. Then Mont-Laurier, 52 km, and Rivière-Rouge, 66 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. On Lac Carre the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The year swings from about -16°C in January to roughly 17°C in July. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. Open water usually runs from late April until about late November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Lac Carre runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
No access rule appears in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. A jetty or pier is mapped about 310 m from here. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. The nearest alternative is Lac Doureau, 0.9 km out. Signs at Lac Carre carry more weight than any list.
