Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with light air out of the SSW with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Lac Canard should be near sheltered bays and points. If you pick one session, make it the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Laurentides, Quebec, is where Lac Canard sits. This is rolling bush country. Start from Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm, 14 km down the road. Further out sit Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts (18 km) and Val-David (18 km). Round about: Lac des Erables 1.7 km away, Lac Roberge about 1.8 km, Lac Huit 2.1 km away, Lac Blanc about 2.7 km and Lac Clair 2.7 km away. A border sits close enough to be relevant to the paperwork.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Laurentides, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. On Lac Canard the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Climate normals give 18°C for July and -14°C for January. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. The season between ice runs from about late April to late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. It holds true on Lac Canard more years than not.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac des Erables, 1.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Lac Canard in particular, ask before you travel.
