Soft grey light all day today, with a decent SSW wind working the banks and steady pressure. Give structure within a cast of the bank the first hour at Lac Brule. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Lac Brule in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The bank gives way to northern bush. Chambord lies 19 km from the water. After that come Métabetchouan at 20 km and Roberval at 20 km. Others close at hand: Lac Baubert 1 km away, Lac des Equerres within 1.3 km, Lac Bleu 2.3 km away, Lac au Goeland within 2.4 km and Lac Leon 2.8 km away. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Public occurrence data for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean names northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac Brule the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -17°C in January. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. That is the shape of the year on Lac Brule.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Baubert at 1 km is the sensible second choice. Check the position on Lac Brule before loading the car.
