Dull, settled light over the water, with a gentle ripple from the S with the barometer flat. Whatever swims in Lac Breul should be near the first drop-off and weed lines. Everything points to the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Breul lies in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, in Quebec. It sits at 372 metres above sea level. It measures about 15 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The bank runs about 2.0 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Normandin sits 88 km from here and is the nearest stop. Then Albanel, 91 km, and Chibougamau, 94 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Fish Lac Breul to its features, not to its size.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -19°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. It holds true on Lac Breul more years than not.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Should this one be busy, Lac Dubert is 1.5 km off. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Breul for certain.
