Flat light and a covered sky today, with stillness over the whole water and pressure sitting still. Whatever swims in Lac Blier should be near the calm side of the wind. Expect the better fishing from night into morning. Give the likely spots time before moving. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Blier sits in Capitale-Nationale, out in Quebec. The land about it is taiga. About 4 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. It is high ground by Quebec standards. Nearest place of any size is Laurentides, 20 km away. For a city, Sainte-Foy is 70 km off. Neighbouring water: Lac Veillette just 0.5 km, Lac Hausseau some 1.1 km off, Lac Rivard just 1.1 km, Lac Mousseux some 1.7 km off and Lac Morin just 1.7 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Survey and observation records for Capitale-Nationale include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon and longnose sucker. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. The shape of Lac Blier rewards a slow walk along one bank.
July runs about 17°C on average, January about -15°C. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lac Blier fishes to that pattern most years.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. Omble de fontaine is mapped as a fishing spot about 50 m away. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. If the gate is shut, Lac Veillette at 0.5 km is the nearest alternative. Rules at Lac Blier are worth checking on the day.
