Flat light and a covered sky today, with a steady SSW wind and steady pressure. Start the search at Lac Betous along sheltered bays and points. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Quebec holds Lac Betous, in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. The ground around here is taiga. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. Supplies mean a trip to Normandin, 74 km off. Beyond it, Albanel at 80 km and Saint-Félicien at 81 km. Close by you also have: Lac des Noctuelles at about 0.9 km, Lac Claira a touch under 1.1 km, Lac Piriac at about 1.6 km, Lac Hary a touch under 1.7 km and Lac Lachy at about 2.2 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Treat Lac Betous as a water to read rather than to cover.
The warmest month averages 15°C, the coldest about -18°C. Winter owns most of the year at this latitude. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near early November in autumn. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Plan around that when you fish Lac Betous.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. If the gate is shut, Lac des Noctuelles at 0.9 km is the nearest alternative. Check the current arrangement for Lac Betous.
