Steady rain over the water today, with a persistent wind from the SSW and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Lac Piriac along points where shallow meets deep. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Piriac lies in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, in Quebec. The water sits 610 metres up. Small at around 3 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. On size it sits at the modest end of our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list. The nearest town is Normandin, 73 km away. Albanel follows at 80 km, then Saint-Félicien at 80 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lac Piriac fishes better once you know its edges.
Seasonal averages run from -18°C in January up to 15°C in July. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly early November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. On Lac Piriac that shapes the whole year.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. If the gate is shut, Lac Claira at 0.7 km is the nearest alternative. The position on Lac Piriac is worth confirming on the day.
