Rain on and off through the day, with barely a breath of wind and steady pressure. The water to cover at Lac Berger is points where shallow meets deep. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Berger falls in Lanaudière, part of Quebec. Lake country bush runs right down to the water. This is a pocket water of some 3 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Our Lanaudière list holds plenty of bigger water. The town to know is Saint-Michel-des-Saints, 50 km out. Trois-Rivières sits 124 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth figures are not published for this one. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Take Lac Berger a stretch at a time.
The warmest month averages 17°C, the coldest about -16°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Berger.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. The nearest alternative is Lac Boulette, 0.6 km out. None of that is settled for Lac Berger in what we hold.
