Flat light and a covered sky today, with a mirror surface most of the day and no real change in pressure. The fish at Lac Noir are likely to sit near windblown banks where food collects. Save your energy for the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Set in Lanaudière, Lac Noir is a Quebec water. The surface lies 403 metres up. The water covers around 1.11 sq km, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. Around 13 km of bank, which is a long day on foot. On our Lanaudière list it sits near the top for size. For a base, Saint-Michel-des-Saints sits 50 km out. Manawan follows at 52 km, then La Tuque at 80 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Reported across Lanaudière: pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Lac Noir repays a walk before the first cast.
Expect July near 17°C and January near -16°C on the long-run figures. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. That shapes the year on Lac Noir.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Boulette sits 0.7 km off and takes the overflow. The position on Lac Noir is worth confirming on the day.
