No direct sun expected today, with a consistent blow out of the SSW with the glass holding level. Fish at Lac de l'Alose should hold close to the shaded margin through bright spells. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac de l'Alose is set in Lanaudière, Quebec. Everything around it is mixed forest. Small at around 4 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Nearest town is Manawan, 47 km off. Saint-Michel-des-Saints follows at 53 km, then La Tuque at 81 km. Neighbouring water: Lac du Chabot (0.8 km), Lac du Chardonnet the better part of 0.9 km, Lac Kapakitik (1.1 km), Lac des Crapets the better part of 1.3 km and Petit lac du Heron (1.3 km). One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Lanaudière records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout among the fish reported. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Lac de l'Alose gives up more to patience than to distance.
The seasonal spread runs -16°C to 17°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early May. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about late November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Lac de l'Alose fishes to that pattern most years.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. The nearest alternative is Lac du Chabot, 0.8 km out. Treat Lac de l'Alose as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
