Flat light and a covered sky today, with a whisper of wind from the S with a settled glass. Lac Barace should fish best around the first drop-off and weed lines today. Everything points to the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

In Quebec, Lac Barace falls inside Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. Height above sea level is 443 metres. It runs to roughly 10 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Bank access stretches around 1.3 km in total. Chibougamau sits 76 km from here and is the nearest stop. It is 216 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. This one is safely inside the county line.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Public occurrence data for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean names northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At Lac Barace light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -19°C on the long-run figures. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Plan any trip to Lac Barace around it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Failing this one, try Lac Firmi, 0.9 km away. None of that is settled for Lac Barace in what we hold.
