Solid cloud cover today, with a faint S drift with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lac Avelline is bays that hold the day's warmth. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Avelline sits in in Quebec. What surrounds it is northern bush. It measures some 1.39 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. Some 14 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. It is among the larger waters listed here for Quebec. The closest town, Labrador City, is 28 km distant. Wabush is 34 km away, with Fermont at 43 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On Lac Avelline the first feature you find is usually worth a session. A drop in wind often turns the surface quiet and the fishing slow.
Expect July to average close to 13°C, with January the cold end at about -23°C. The ice season is long here and the open one short. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late May. From about late May to around late October, expect open water on the long-run figures. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. That is the shape of the year on Lac Avelline.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Records show it does not hold water year-round. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Montenon, 8.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Avelline for certain.
