A closed sky with even light today, with light air out of the S and the barometer holding steady. Fish at Lac Aron should hold close to shallow cover and weed edges. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Set in Nord-du-Québec, Lac Aron is a Quebec water. The surroundings are boreal forest. This is a pocket water of some 8 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is a small entry by Nord-du-Québec standards. Chibougamau sits 64 km from here and is the nearest stop. The nearest city of size is Saguenay, 230 km away. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Nord-du-Québec records list Arctic charr, brook trout and lake trout among the fish reported. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Treat Lac Aron as a water to read rather than to cover.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 16°C, while January sits near -19°C. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Anyone fishing Lac Aron regularly works to that calendar.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Nay at 0.9 km is the sensible second choice. Signs at Lac Aron carry more weight than any list.
