No direct sun expected today, with stillness over the whole water and pressure sitting still. Give the shaded margin through bright spells the first hour at Lac Ariot. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

This water sits in Nord-du-Québec, Quebec. Spruce and muskeg runs right down to the water. The water covers some 15 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The full circuit measures close to 2.2 km on foot. It is a small entry by Nord-du-Québec standards. For supplies, Chibougamau is 44 km out. Chapais lies 71 km off, Mistissini another 83 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Survey and observation records for Nord-du-Québec include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout and lake whitefish. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. On Lac Ariot the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -19°C. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Lac Ariot fishes to that pattern most years.
Public data does not answer the access question here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Should this one be busy, Lac Ance is 0.9 km off. Signs at Lac Ariot carry more weight than any list.
