Overcast skies today, with next to no ripple with the barometer flat. The productive water at Lac Annie will be around shallow cover and weed edges. Not a day the forecast likes; the evening keeps a flicker of interest. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, is where Lac Annie sits. Height above sea level is 467 metres. Surface area is around 21 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The bank runs about 2.8 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Head to Chute-aux-Outardes, 169 km away, for anything you forgot. Hauterive is 170 km away, with Betsiamites at 173 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. On Lac Annie the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
The year swings from about -20°C in January to roughly 15°C in July. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Once it clears, about mid May, the fishing comes on quickly. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about mid May until roughly early November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. That shapes the year on Lac Annie.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Ovale at 0.6 km is the sensible second choice. For Lac Annie, the notice at the access point is the final word.
