Heavy overcast holding through the day, with barely a breath of wind with a settled glass. The productive water at Lac Emile will be around the margins and the shelf beyond them. Numbers are low everywhere; the evening is the pick of them. Lower the pace and stay patient. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Emile falls in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, part of Quebec. The country here is spruce and muskeg. It covers about 7 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. You are 170 km from Chute-aux-Outardes. Saguenay is the closest city, 212 km away. No border sits close enough to matter.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Lac Emile the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Climate normals give 15°C for July and -20°C for January. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Count the season from break-up, usually mid May. Expect the water usable from around mid May until roughly early November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Anyone fishing Lac Emile regularly works to that calendar.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac Forget at 0.6 km is the sensible second choice. For Lac Emile in particular, ask before you travel.
