Soft grey light all day today, with air barely moving and no real change in pressure. Fish at Lac Anderson should hold close to the first drop-off and weed lines. A slow day overall; the evening is the best of a quiet lot. Lower the pace and stay patient. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

This water sits in Nord-du-Québec, Quebec. It sits in taiga. Roughly 23 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The bank runs about 2.7 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Nord-du-Québec. Nearest place of any size is Matagami, 53 km away. Beyond it, Lebel-sur-Quévillon at 140 km and Macamic at 146 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Nord-du-Québec, recorded fish include Arctic charr, brook trout and lake trout. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac Anderson the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -19°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Plan any trip to Lac Anderson around it.
We hold no note on access for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lac Longley sits 1.1 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac Anderson in particular, ask before you travel.
