Stars out and no cloud tonight, with a mirror surface most of the day with the glass holding level. Give the margins and the shelf beyond them the first hour at Lac Albany. Save your energy for the middle of the day. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

The Lanaudière entry here is Lac Albany, in Quebec. The ground round it is pine and birch. It measures about 11 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The full circuit measures close to 1.8 km on foot. Saint-Michel-des-Saints lies 25 km from the water. Then Manawan, 58 km, and Mandeville, 67 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Lanaudière records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass among the fish reported. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Fish Lac Albany where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Between January at about -15°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. On Lac Albany the same rules apply, with local timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. The nearest alternative is Lac Chicoine, 1.2 km out. Check the current arrangement for Lac Albany.
