Wet weather working through today, with a faint SSW drift with the barometer flat. Give windblown banks where food collects the first hour at Lac Motte. The numbers single out the morning. Slow down and let the fish find the bait. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Motte stands in Lanaudière, Quebec. It lies 440 metres above sea level. It covers about 3 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Our Lanaudière list holds plenty of bigger water. The nearest town is Saint-Michel-des-Saints, 25 km away. Mandeville lies 62 km off, Manawan another 64 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Survey and observation records for Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. The shape of Lac Motte rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Averages here run 17°C at the top of summer and -15°C at the bottom of winter. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late April. The season between ice runs from about late April to late November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. The season on Lac Motte follows the weather closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Petit lac Lacroix at 0.7 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing on Lac Motte should be assumed from this page alone.
