A grey, even sky over the water, with flat calm through the day with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Lac Alaise should come off the shaded margin through bright spells. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Alaise is set in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The surroundings are boreal forest. At roughly 2 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. On size it sits at the modest end of our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list. Start from Normandin, 76 km down the road. The nearest city of size is Saguenay, 193 km away. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. The shape of Lac Alaise rewards a slow walk along one bank.
The warm month here averages 16°C; the cold one sits at -18°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lac Alaise runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. For a change of water, Lac Auga is 0.4 km distant. Nothing on Lac Alaise should be assumed from this page alone.
