Lac Adam, Quebec: Fishing Spots and Seasons

• Overview

  Lac Adam is a Laurentides water, Quebec side. Spruce and muskeg runs right down to the water. About 5 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. For a base, Ferme-Neuve sits 83 km out. Gatineau is the closest city, 218 km away. More in the same country: Lac Cormon a shade over 1.2 km, Lac Saint-Rome 1.7 km away, Lac Dirk a shade over 2.2 km, Lac King 2.3 km away and Lac Beaver a shade over 2.6 km. • Where to Fish on Lac Adam

  Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Anyone new to Lac Adam should walk it once before setting up.

• Seasonal Patterns

  Long-run averages give July about 17°C and January about -17°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Adam.

• Tackle & Baits

  Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Cormon, 1.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position on Lac Adam before loading the car.
