Rain moving through today, with a gentle ripple from the SSE with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Lac a Renard should be near shallow cover and weed edges. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac a Renard falls in Côte-Nord, part of Quebec. The setting is boreal forest on every side. About 3.63 sq km, so local knowledge or a boat saves a lot of walking. The outline measures near 39 km, so a boat opens up water the bank never reaches. It is among the larger waters listed here for Côte-Nord. For supplies, Havre-Saint-Pierre is 80 km out. Saguenay is the closest city, 527 km away. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Côte-Nord include logperch. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. At Lac a Renard light and wind decide more than tackle does.
The seasonal spread runs -16°C to 15°C. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly mid May. Climate averages put the opening at about mid May and the closing near mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Plan around that when you fish Lac a Renard.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. The nearest alternative is Lac Bilodeau, 6.6 km out. None of that is settled for Lac a Renard in what we hold.
