Rain moving through today, with light air out of the SSE and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Lac de la Tour along the margins and the shelf beyond them. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac de la Tour is a Côte-Nord water, in Quebec. The coast is 16 km away. Small at around 7 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Côte-Nord. Some 75 km away sits Havre-Saint-Pierre, the nearest settlement. Saguenay is the closest city, 518 km away. Other water within reach: Lac Queue de Chat 3.7 km, Lac aux Brochets 4.5 km away, Lac Atsuk 4.5 km, Lac a Panneau 5.2 km away and Lac a la Martre 8.5 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Survey and observation records for Côte-Nord include logperch. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. At Lac de la Tour the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 15°C, while January sits near -16°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Plan any trip to Lac de la Tour around it.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. The nearest alternative is Lac Queue de Chat, 3.7 km out. For Lac de la Tour, the notice at the access point is the final word.
