A grey, even sky over the water, with a light chop building from the S and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Lac a Lyrette will be around the calm side of the wind. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Outaouais, Quebec, is where Lac a Lyrette sits. What surrounds it is lake country bush. Ground here is low by Quebec standards. Nearest place of any size is Saint-Boniface, 16 km away. Then Maniwaki, 29 km, and Mont-Laurier, 36 km. Water in the same corner: Lac Darby 1.6 km off, Lac de la Montagne a touch under 1.9 km, Lac Philomene 6.1 km off, Lac a Miller a touch under 6.6 km and Lac a Francois 6.6 km off. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Treat Lac a Lyrette as a water to read rather than to cover.
Typical July readings run about 18°C; by January the average is down near -14°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. On Lac a Lyrette the same rules apply, with local timing.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Darby at 1.6 km is the sensible second choice. The position on Lac a Lyrette is worth confirming on the day.
