Dull, settled light over the water, with mild air moving in from the S and pressure sitting still. Whatever swims in Lac de la Montagne should be near the weed line and any gaps in it. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient.

Outaouais, Quebec, is where Lac de la Montagne sits. It sits at 208 metres above sea level. The water covers some 36 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The full circuit measures close to 3.7 km on foot. It is among the larger waters listed here for Outaouais. The town to know is Saint-Boniface, 17 km out. It is 131 km to Gatineau, the nearest city. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Across Outaouais, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. The shape of Lac de la Montagne decides where the fish sit.
Seasonal averages run from -14°C in January up to 18°C in July. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Expect Lac de la Montagne to follow that timing.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Lac a Lyrette is 1.9 km off. For Lac de la Montagne in particular, ask before you travel.
