An even grey lid over the water, with stillness over the whole water with the barometer flat. On Lac Ross, work the weed line and any gaps in it first. The forecast is against you; the night is the least bad option. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Ross is one of the Outaouais waters in Quebec. The country round it is rolling bush from end to end. The water measures roughly 9 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. Saint-Boniface is the closest place, 25 km off. Maniwaki follows at 38 km, then Ferme-Neuve at 40 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Reported across Outaouais: pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. The shape of Lac Ross decides where the fish sit.
Expect July near 18°C and January near -15°C on the long-run figures. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. In an average year the thaw lands around late April and the freeze near late November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. At Lac Ross the season follows that pattern closely.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. The nearest alternative is Lac Union, 0.9 km out. Check the position at Lac Ross before loading the car.
